The Seahorse swimming badge is the first official swimming badge for children. The Seahorse requirements include swimming 25 meters, diving for an object in shoulder-deep water, and jumping from the pool edge.
The special editions are official swimming badges in special colors or designs. They correspond to classic variants such as the Seahorse Badge or the Bronze Swimming Badge and can be used in the same way. The special colors are very popular, especially with younger swimmers who like to wear something special.
Peel & stick badges are simply adhered, while iron-on badges are fixed with an iron. DSA peel & stick badges are water-resistant on flat fabrics, adhere best to smooth, clean surfaces like fabric, plastic, and metal, and are less effective on rough or uneven materials such as towels.

Seahorse Badge Early Swimmer
The Seahorse badge is the first official swimming badge for children and can usually be obtained from the age of five. It certifies basic swimming skills and is the first step towards further swimming badges. To obtain the Seahorse badge, children must swim 25 meters, jump from the edge of the pool, and retrieve an object from shoulder-deep water. In addition, they are tested on the Seahorse bathing rules. After receiving the Seahorse badge, children receive their swimming passport, in which all further swimming badges such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold are entered. The Seahorse badge is particularly popular with beginner swimmers and motivates them for further training. It is often awarded as part of swimming courses in swimming schools or by swimming clubs. If you want to acquire the Seahorse badge, you can order swimming passports and badges for swimming clubs, swimming schools, or private use from our swimming shop - also in practical sets for group needs.
Bronze Swimming Badge
The Bronze Badge, also known as the DSA Bronze, is the second official swimming badge for children and young people, directly after the Seahorse Badge. It confirms basic swimming skills and increases safety in the water. The test consists of a headfirst dive from the edge of the pool, followed by swimming 200 meters within 15 minutes – 150 meters of which must be on the stomach or back and 50 meters in another swimming style. In addition, a jump from a height of 1 meter and retrieving an object from a depth of 2 meters are required. The Bronze bathing rules are also tested. All completed swimming badges are noted in the German swimming pass. If you want to buy the Bronze swimming badge, you will find suitable badges for swimming clubs, swimming schools and for private use with us. The Bronze badge motivates many children to regular swimming training and is often part of swimming education in schools. In our swimming shop, the Bronze badge is also available as a set – ideal for courses and exams in groups.
Silver Swimming Badge
The Silver Badge is an important milestone on the path to safe swimming – for children and as an adult swimming badge. To earn the badge, the swimmer must first perform a headfirst dive from the edge of the pool. This is followed by a 20-minute swim, during which at least 400 meters must be covered, with 300 meters in prone or supine position and 100 meters in another swimming stroke. Another task is to retrieve an object twice from a depth of two meters. In addition, participants must dive 10 meters underwater, pushing off from the edge of the pool. The swimmer must also demonstrate either a dive from the 3-meter board or two dives from the 1-meter board. Mastery of the Silver bathing rules and Silver self-rescue are also prerequisites for the badge. All progress is recorded in the swimming passport, and swimming passports and badges can be ordered from us for clubs, swimming schools, and private use.
Gold Swimming Badge
The Gold Badge is the most challenging swimming badge and is aimed at advanced swimmers aged nine and over. The requirements include a headfirst dive followed by a 30-minute swim, during which at least 800 meters must be covered – 650 meters in a prone or supine position and 150 meters in another body position. Additionally, a starting dive with 25 meters of crawl stroke and 50 meters of breaststroke in a maximum of 1:15 minutes. 50 meters of backstroke are also part of the test. Furthermore, 10 meters of underwater swimming from a swimming position, three deep dives from approx. 2 meters water depth within 3 minutes, a jump from 3 meters height or two different jumps from the 1-meter springboard, as well as 50 meters of transport swimming. In addition to the practical part, the Gold bathing rules must be mastered. Knowledge of assistance in bathing, boat and ice accidents, as well as measures for self-rescue and rescue of others, will also be tested. The Gold Badge is also entered in the swimming pass.
